ADA

Americans with Disabilities Act — prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, public accommodations, transportation, and telecommunications. Title I of the ADA covers employment and applies to employers with 15 or more employees.

Under the ADA, employers must provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities, unless doing so would cause undue hardship. A reasonable accommodation is any modification to the job, work environment, or the way work is performed that enables a qualified person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.

The ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA) significantly broadened the definition of disability, making it easier for individuals to establish coverage under the ADA.
