PEO Client Company
The business that enters into a co-employment relationship with a PEO.
A PEO client company is a business that has entered into a co-employment agreement with a Professional Employer Organization. In this arrangement, the client company retains control over its business operations, management decisions, and employee supervision, while the PEO assumes employer-of-record responsibilities for payroll, taxes, benefits, and compliance.
Client companies typically range from 5 to 500 employees, though PEOs serve businesses of all sizes. The ideal PEO client is a business that wants to reduce HR administrative burden, access better employee benefits, lower workers' compensation costs, or improve compliance — without hiring a full in-house HR team.
Client companies can terminate the PEO relationship at any time, subject to the terms of their service agreement.
